I knew my grandmother's younger sister by the name HENRIETTA. She was born abt 1880 in Feteiras, Sao Miguel and immigrated to Fall River. Her maiden name was TAVARES. I know she was married and had at least one child, a son, but I do not know her husband's name. I have not been able to find any record for her under the name Henrietta - is there a Portuguese name that is similar? There were at least two other members of her family that I have found records for - my grandmother, MARIA ADELAIDE TAVARES SOUSA) (b. 27 Nov. 1879 in Feteiras) and her brother, JOAO DA COSTA TAVARES, (b. 1875 in Feteiras). And her parents, JOAO DA COSTA TAVARES, (b. 15 June 1839 in Feteiras), and MARIA DA GLORIA RAMALHO, (b. 8 Nov. 1839 in Fetieras). I have found birth records for her grand and great grand parents - she was the great granddaughter of JOAO DE OLIVEIRA BERGANTIM (b. 18 June 1784 in Feteiras) and ANA FRANCISCA (b. 29 April 1788 in Relva, Sao Miguel). I would very much appreciate any information as to a possible Portuguese name she may have changed to "Henrietta" and any information anyone might have regarding her or her immediate family.
