The other name is Silvestre de Viz but I am not sure as I have not seen that
name before. Also if you look at the names of the Witnesses one is Amado
Teixeira de Sousa and the other is Manuel Perreira Madruga

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help reading two fathers last names

I was wondering if someone would mind having a look at this record for the
marriage of Manoel Furtado de Mendonça to Maria de Avila, 1723.
http://pg.azores.gov.pt/drac/cca/biblioteca_digital/SJVVC1701-1734/SJVVC1701
-1734_item1/P92.html

I am doing research on the Manoel's father and mother. In this record, at
first glance it appears that his last name is Joze Perreira but as I look at
it, I see an X in the name, and am wondering if it looksTexeira to anyone
else.

also is Maria's father is Silvestre de Viz?

The Perriera/Teixera name clarification would make a big difference in my
searching because I have found various records for Joseph Teixera and Maria
Furtado during the 40 years I am searching, but no birth, marriage, death
records or births of children under Maria Furtado/a and Jose Pereira. If I
have been reading the marriage record of their son Manoel wrong, this would
clear a lot of things up.

Thanks
Suzanne
