Adair, Can you give me some background on where the information came from? a diary maybe?. I've searched many times through the Sonoma records, the only person with a Solomon surname is a Charles, b 1848 New York.
The Censuses and Great Registers don't show anyone in the county who could fit as Joseph Silva. There is a Militia list at CA Gen Web for Sonoma showing a J S Silva. We had Manuel and Jennie on the 1880 census farming in San Leandro.
