I actually found a living relatives, Grandson(John Sanchez) and
Granddaughter(Caryl Atkinson) of my grandfathers' (Harry Borba)brother
(Louis Borba) who continues to live in Sebastopol and has collected
much information on his own. They knew many of these people when
they were growing up, they are my peers. John has a "tape" recording
of another brother(William Borba) as an audio story which is where
this came. I plan to meet him in the next couple of months. That
Jenny and her sisters came virtually as special considerations on a
whaling ship makes sense why we have not found much documentation
correct? Their father Joseph Silva was already here. I believe
Jennie and Manuel first hooked up in the east bay with Manuels
brother on th way to Sebastopol.
Jennies brother Manuel Silva that you found looks like he finally got
off the ships a few years later. I have made updates on my tree to
reflect what I have found mostly from John and Caryl, additionally I
have really pounded out a couple other brothers as well.
Does this make sense?

Adair,
Can you give me some background on where the information came from?
a diary maybe?. I've searched many times through the Sonoma
records, the only person with a Solomon surname is a Charles, b
1848 New York.
The Censuses and Great Registers don't show anyone in the county
who could fit as Joseph Silva. There is a Militia list at CA Gen
Web for Sonoma showing a J S Silva.
We had Manuel and Jennie on the 1880 census farming in San Leandro.

I am trying to identify Jennie Solomon Silva's sisters that

part of this story sound familiar?
Jennie Solomon Silva and her 2/3 sisters traveled on a whaling
ship, likely arranged by her brother Manuel Silva 1851 who worked
on this ship.. Their father(Joseph Silva abt 1821) was already in
America and owned Vinehill Ranch near Sebastopol. He convinced
Jennie ad her husband Manuel there was plenty of work in the
berries, hops, and grapes. Jennie and her family arrived in
Sebastopol (a town of about 200) by Northwest Pacific Railroad on
April 14, 1892 at 6:30 PM.
