Karen, Ancestry.com allows for alternative names. You just need to decide on the primary one to show in the tree. My grandfather's name is William da Silva Vasconcellos in Graciosa. When he arrived Silva became everyone's middle name. My grandfather then married a Silva and changed last name to Sylvia (his mother did not approve of the marriage). She passed away and he married my grandmother (Bettencourt) and changed his name back to Vasconcellos. Of course, I've also seen "Vasconcelos" (one L). So, I have all names in ancestry with the primary being the name he had in the US for most of his life.
Just go to the detail view for the person and click the little icon to the right of the name. Oh, it doesn't show up in FTM or the iPhone app, but it's there!
