I have been trying to locate the marriage record for José Joaquim Madruga
and Maria da Conceição.

A daughter, Maria Hortênsia was baptized in the parish of Santissima
Trindade in Lajes on the island of Pico about 1853, so I have been looking
at an LDS microfilm for marriages in that parish from approximately 1830 to
1860 without success. That suggests that they were married in another
parish.

According to the NEPS databases, the largest number of persons named
“Madruga” outside of Lajes, is in Ribeiras. Is that still considered part
of Lajes? Is that a logical place to look next?

Note: Maria Hortênsia was married 12 September 1877 in Horta, Faial.

Thanks!
