Lester, i will take a stab at this, but if anyone else sees something different, please chime in.
Manuel Machado looks to be 20 and From São Matheus (born and baptised) living in the village of Praya (?), from the island of Graciosa. His mother was Maria Clara, single and deceased at the time of this marriage record and hailed from the same village as his birth. She is from the parish of Santissima Trindade, Lasjes de Pico (Island of Pico). Her parents are indeed José Joaquim & Maria de Coceição (labourers) both from the same parish as their daughter. The last reliable piece of information that I have is the marriage record for Maria Hortensia and Manuel Bettencourt (12 September 1877). In that document it says that Maria was 24 years old and her parents were Jose Joaquim Madruga and Maria da Conceicao. Did I overlook something in that document?
