i have been doing a litle more research and my gggrand father was jose mariano goulart grant, pai incognito, mother ana rosa , san roque, pico, sept 14, 1809. the mystery of the surname continues but i have found the name antonio tome grant or tome antonio grante on jose's birth record i think as a god father or witness. i also found the same antonio tome grant signing several birth records around the same time. ccc records: san roque babtisms 1801-18, pages 0060, 0066, 00677, 0068. maybe antonio wa a priest, treasure or friend? my translating skills are not very good. i did find antiono tome was apparently from st. trindade, lajes and his father was pai incognito as well. mother francesca ignacia. the only other grant on pico so far was the manuel marino with incognito father as well. seems to be a trend with grant surname. i did test my dad with ydna just to see if there was an english, scott connection and there is. can you help me with this antonio tome grante. i feel as there must be some connection as jose and his mother left san roque and her family and went to lajes, antonio's home. connection??? any thoughts?
