Lester, Yes, the abbreviation in front of Jose Joaquim Madruga de Bettencourt is Reverendo but; before that I "believe" the word "testemunha" means witness or witnessed by. Others will have to clarify this for you. It looks to me that the priest's signature says Serfino Candide de Bettencourt. Perhaps a relative of the reverend who witnessed the marriage??
