Eliseu, I hadn't considered that it could be a last name. So, in your experience, you're telling me Cosme is normally a last name?
I have 6 records that reference him, and all of them show him as Cosme Joze or Cosme Joze de Azevedo. I don't know if there is a marriage document for his mother (Aurelia Rosa) because she is shown as solteira. Hope this helps!
