Hi Cheri

Thank you for all that good advice. I have been through the Urzelina
baptismos a couple of times for 10 years each side of Caesano looking for
siblings in Urzelina and haven't found any as yet. When I can get into the
site (it is always out on Saturday mornings here in Australia -
frustration) I will take your advice about the baptism at the time of
marriage. Both sets of parents in Lucas' marriage record are said to come
from the same parish of Urzelina.

A couple of questions you might be able to help me with: I can't find a
comprehensive map of where all of those parishes are in relation to each
other. I can see a couple of them. What would be the closest to Urzelina?
Some of the other ancestors came from Rosais and Velas.??

Also, in looking for lists of siblings I have found that the families are
small and that the children are spaced at 3 or 4 years apart. Is this
because I haven't found them all, or could this be usual.???? Even if the
babies had died at birth or shortly after I would imagine that they would
still be baptized and in the records. ??

I appreciate your help and feel that I do need some more of this general
background. There is very little literature available on life in the Azores
in English, but I am waiting on a relevant book to be sent from the other
side of the country to my library and hope that will give me a bit more
insight as well. I can't get my head around what their lives would have
been like.
