Not specific to the Azores, but a handy tip I recently came across for those using Family Tree Maker and synchronizing with Ancestry.com. I mainly use it to have a copy of my ancestry.com tree, sources and media on a local system where I control the data. Yes, I'm afraid of "clouds" ;-)
To ensure all of your media is downloaded to Family Tree Maker, go to the "Media" section by selecting it in the ribbon bar. Then hit <CTRL> <F5> (the "<" and ">" indicate that these are two keys and not "ctrlf5" typed as individual letters/numbers). You will be prompted to download all media from your ancestry.com synchronized tree or only search for anything that is missing. I would do it all first and then the delta option later.
