I didn't pay particular attention while transcribing marriages, but it is very common to have many witnesses and only the most important are mentioned.
In records from the 1600s you will find something like, "witnesses present were capitao X, alferes, Y, tenente Z and many others."
I have a suspicion that one of the priests in your record could be a sibling of the bride or groom and might have even performed the marriage.
I've seen this many times - not always stating the priest was related, but if I have done enough research before and after the date, I might recognize them as such.

Was it unusual to have 3 priests attend a wedding. Two priests were from Rabo de Peixe parrish of Bom Jesus and are listed as testemunhas " witnesses" and the other priest was from Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres, Pico da Pedra. This is from early 1800s. Was it because it was a respected family in the community or perhaps the bride and groom didn't have 2 witnesses.Just curious if anyone might have some thoughts or insights on this. Thanks, Herb--
