Hi Manoel,
This is why this group is so good. I searched the Sao Sebastiao records
from 1738 back to 1720 looking for this marriage. Aparantly I did not go
back far enough my estimates were off by 13 years. Easy enough to do when I
had not looked up births. Aparently Barbara Correia was much older (in her
40’s) when her daughter was born and her daughter was older than I estimated
when she was married. This seems to get me past the gap in the records.
I am particularly interested in this female line because in DNA testing it
is Haplogroup L2a which is not common in the Acores and has its orgins in
Africa.
More work to do. Thank you for your assistance.

Thanks Cheri & Altino,
I wanted to make sure as this is my Grandmother’s line. There is a record
gap in Sao Sebastiao Marriages 1738-1753 and I have looked before the 1738
and have not found the marriage of her parents. It looks like I am going to
have to work around the missing marriage by looking at Baptisms if the grand
parents are listed.

Hi Richard,
I agree with Cheri. The brides parents are from the same parish as where
this marriage takes place. The word "nesta" appears when mentioning the
parent parish. That word means " in this".

Hi All,
The attached record is from Sao Sebastiao in Ponta Delgada. I am having
difficulty reading the parish of the bride. Barbra de Sao Jose daughter of
Manuel de Sousa and Barbara Correia both being deceased It is on the 4th
line from the bottom and looks matriz but I want to be sure.
