Hello,

Just a reminder that my husband's great-grandfather was a Joao PACHECO from
the village of Sao Roque, right beside Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel.
Unfortunately that's about all I know about him. His wife was Jacintha
COSTA, and the only child I know about is Antonio PACHECO, b1885
there. At Age 20 he migrated to Massachusetts, so ~1905. I don't
know who he traveled with, or who he was coming to stay with. Shortly
after arriving he settled in Cambridge, MA, and married there and remained
there. He was killed in a car accident ~1928 in Raynham, MA, leaving a
very pregnant widow and 5 young children. Mrs. Elsie (MOURA) PACHECO
told all her grandchildren that her late husband had .no. relatives in New
England. Through my research I found out that was .not. true. He even
had relatives in Cambridge. I have no idea whether Tony's parents also
migrated to Massachusetts. .... I wish this family had a Maria Pacheco
in their family; it might help my research.

(Because of my husband 2 yrs. of disability, I have not been active in
genealogy during this time. But, I have posted all my findings on-line,
so you can search for more details.)

Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA)

P.S.
I could mention that one of Tony and Elsie Pacheco's grandsons just passed
last week. Their oldest son, Charlton PACHECO, died in 1977, leaving a
widow and 5 children. As of this week, only 3 of the children are still
living. And, Tony and Elsie had 5 children, and 3 of them are still
living, but are in their 80's and 90's now. Because of funerals for
both PACHECO and MOURA family members, we've seen many of them this winter.
