Hi all, I am hoping to find further information on one Serino Correia Mendonca (for whom I have two different birthdates - January 20, 1869, per his death record AND January 15, 1870, per his Naturalization record of October 20, 1894 in New Bedford, MA). He was born on either Graciosa (where his brother Joao was born in about 1861) or Faial, which is where he sailed from - landed in New York on September 7, 1895 - under the name of Cyreno Correia Mendonca going to New Bedford, MA. I'm pretty sure he must have traveled to the US more than once, haven't found the first arrival yet though). He married about 1900 to Maria S. Ortins? (4 January 1880-22 August 1940). They were the parents of 6 known children: Manual Ortins Mendonca 1901-1960; Lauri Ortins Mendonca 1902-1964; Frank Ortins Mendonca 1905-1986, Eveyn Mendonca 1909 who married Joe Faria Perry; Leno Ortins Mendonca 1911-1992 and Mary Mendonca who married an unidentified Mr. Archibald. They lived predominantly in Stanislaus County, California where their deaths are recorded. I was able to find all of the above with the help of Eric Edgar of the group.
