Yea, I remember when you first started your search and didn't know where your family came from - only somewhere on S.Miguel. You've had terrific success.
Yes, about the old genealogists you mention, I think one of them must be the source for a link I found to the noble familes in the islands. I found it in the Forjaz book for the Quatro Ilhas. A link to a lady on Pico whose husband was a capitao brought me back to Van der Hagen the first Terra, the first Brum, first Madruga, etc. I can tell you it was a real thrill. Now if I can do the same thing for some other lines that might be in someone's old charts ... I need to find time to search them myself.

Yes, Doug.How wonderful it is to have people like Rodrigo Rodrigues, Ernesto do Canto, Carlos Machado, Gaspar Frutuoso, who have done this important job for all of us!As you know, I have waited a long time for this, and now I learned that I have a lot of ancestors spread all over the island of São Miguel in the early 1600's, linked to more than 50 chapters of the RR book.I believe that we all, with ancient roots in São Miguel, are related somehow.Manoel Cesar Furtado
