Yes it sure is him. Thank you ! I have been to Provincetown and researched him at both the town records and the church! The town Clerk could not have been more helpful. I made one personal visit to the church and talked directly to the Priest, and followed up with a small donation in writing, with no response and finally 5 years later, hoping that perhaps there would be a new more receptive Priest, I forwarded the past correspondence and a larger donation and I got a curt telephone call where in the same Priest confirmed the baptismal date of Manuel but said he had no further information on the family or Manuel's four siblings who were all born to the same church: :< ) I'll try again when the next five years is up- if I am still around :< ( Yes I do have Ancestry and I have copies of these census, Thanks for the offer. Th Thank you for the marriage record. I do have that data but it is inconsistent with family history in that Frances, it is understood, that those parents listed are step/foster parents. It is told to me that she had a deformed hand and that her parents sent her to the states to get medical attention for the hand and she took on the name of the family she was staying with in Montgomery Al. So I have kind of hit a brick wall in trying to identify her actual family in Flores. I have tried to find her Step Father in the Azores but not knowing the language I have a handicap that I have not yet had the courage to attempt to overcome. Maybe some day :<( I did print out the word list on your web, Thank You but I have a long way to go :<)
I contracted João Ventura a member of this group and he has been able to discover Manuel's birth record but but could not find any likely records for a Frances Joseph +/- of her birth date of May 9, 1842.
