Dear Laura,

There are dozens of people named Teresa de Jesus on Pico (there are 171 of them born in the 18th century on Pico in my database so far), though I admit they don't all have Matos ancestors.
But it will not really be possible to identify which is yours unless you can say which freguesia on Pico, or even better if you can name her parents.

One of the problems is that if she was not married before emigrating, only her first name would be listed at her baptism (most of the time, but not always).
I see in my records one Teresa de Jesus whose father was a Matos, but she married in Pico and also died there.

Matos is well known in several villages on Pico.

Sincerely,

Good afternoon, I am new to the group.
I am interested in finding the birth of my grandmother Teresa of Jesus (Matos) in 1743 in Pico island, part of families who emigrated to Brazil. He died in Uruguay.
Thank orientation.
regards
Ma Laura Gonzalez
