Doug, Thanks so much! Here I’ve been checking and checking and not seeing the village I didn’t even think of looking up the church! Grrrr, these record searches sometimes drive me crazy. I guess we all learn something new every day!

The church of Praia da Vitoria is called Santa Cruz. If you got too close to the computer monitor, those records would have bit you. :-) Yea, it's a little strange and if I weren't familiar with it, I might have missed it, too. It reminds me of when I do research and find someone from Flores or Sao Miguel and they use the church name that I don't have well memorized. So I have to go look it up and remember, oh, that's Lomba or that's Ponta Garca, etc. Not sure what the logic was to list by village and then switch to the church name in some cases. Happy hunting!
