I'm trying to do some genealogy on my Portuguese ancestors who came from
the Azore Islands. The only information I have is they came from Santo
Amaro (great grandmother put this down as the birthplace of her husband
Manuel Isidoro Bettencourt). Last fall a cousin of mine gave me
information on the burial of my great grandfather and his parents are
listed as Joseph Isidoro and Anne Bettencourt. For my great grandmother I
know her first name was Josephine and two names are give for her surname
(she gave it as Enos on the same document where she said her husband was
born in Santo Amaro) and it appears as Pimentel on the death certificates
of two of her sons. This is where the four names I'm interested in know
about are Bettencourt, Isidoro, Enos, and Pimentel. Are there any local
parish records that can be accessed? I also have the years of my great
grandparents births from U.S. Census data.
