Edith, We need dates. Knowing they are your greats doesn't help us help you. We have no idea if you are in your 20s or 70s. A 20 year old would have greats born in the early 1900s perhaps. A 70 year old would have their greats born in the mid1800s.
I know there's a Santo Amaro on Pico. There may be other Santo Amaros. Is your island Pico? Joseph is Jose in Portuguese and Anne is Anna/Ana (spelling depends on the time period: old/new spellings). If it is Santo Amaro on Pico, you can access the records from the Azorean Government Web site, the CCA: http://www.culturacores.azores.gov.pt/ig/registos/Default.aspx Your island is Pico, your council is Sao Roque do Pico, and your freguesia is Santo Amaro.
