Hi Joe M, I can't help with the person you're looking for, but, you've titled your posting "braga," and, I may be able to help with that. My family descends from a family in Maia, S. Miguel, who used the double surname "Medeiros Braga." It dates pretty far back. Let me know if this family may be of interest to you.
