Richard I don't think I can help you. I never did any research in Vila do Porto. My grandmother was Anna Maria de Braga born in Mulbusca, Santa Espirto. in 1880. I;m not certain but I don't think the film records don't go to 1884. I guess we have to wait for CCA to post the records for Santa Maria. I think those records go to 1910.

Jose, the brother I know a little about, came to CAlif. around 1910 . He lists John Nevis as a friend on the ship register. Don't know if any of this will connect up to your Bragas . Maria had a daughter, Ann, born in San Pablo in 1909. Ann was my grandmother.
