| Thanks for wording this opinion so well. I too have the same concerns but did not know how to express them. I have several people that have taken tests for me but want me to protect their personal information. There are some individuals that would not want this information available unless they themselves volunteered it. I feel uncomfortable since these relatives are trusting me to do my best to protect their information and use my discretion as to what to share and what not to share. I value their trust and I'm hoping other relatives will also trust FTDNA and get tested. Also I'm not seeing how "not having" this information available would stop someone from finding common ancestors but I have very little experience with DNA and Genealogy so I yield to the experts and professionals reasoning on this matter.
