Hi Eliseu: Thanks for your ideas and good questions.
When I first started researching them, I automatically assumed they were from Ponta Delgada and have looked through those freguesias. That's where most of my research has been. I was ordering the micro films from the family history center and started branching out further away from Ponta Delgada. With names like Domingo's and Clemente, it would seem "easy". (Haha!!) Today I again started going through the other concelhos. Maybe I missed one that came online after I searched that section. I have to go through all of them again to be sure I didn't miss any. Fortunately, I have birth dates and the parent's names. Domingo's immigrated in 1885 but I noticed that year is missing from the passports. I remember that the brother came at a different years. I can't remember if I read here to search for the ancestor about six months before they came. So I know Domingos arrived in 1884 and that clement probably came before that. I know Domingo's was blessed with a good intellect and someone in this country must have taken notice because somehow he was raised by the Jesuits. I do not know how that happened but he graduated from tufts university as a dentist. We sent for the requirements to enter dental school back then and we are amazed that he was proficient enough to get through it. Although he died only four years after starting his practice, he left a legacy of the value of education to his children and descendants. I learned that he was married when he was going through dental school. I suppose that was not common but I'm not sure. Must have been very difficult. I don't have any clue yet which part of Sao Miguel they came from. Thank you for helping me.
