Hi Evee,

I was looking over the baptism record of your ancestor Arthur and noticed the family was living on a street called "Rua dos Biscoitos." Now, I don't know Santo Amaro's street much, but there is a person on this list named Tomas Leal who has a summer home there and if that street still has that name, he might be able to tell you more about it. For me, that's the type of thing that adds some meat to the bones of names and dates.

On another subject, do you have your picks ready for tomorrow? :-)

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] God Parents of Arthur da Silva - need help
with names/translation on back of a picture

PART I.

http://culturacores.azores.gov.pt/biblioteca_digital/PIC-SR-SANTOAMARO-B-1860-1890/PIC-SR-SANTOAMARO-B-1860-1890_item1/P150.html

The record referenced above is the baptism record for Arthur (No. 2 on the upper left)

Arthur is my Grandfather.

I know who his parents are and his grandparents...they are a part of the record.

Thanks to the clues from Azores Genealogy group members about translating and reading the records, I believe I also see the God Parents listed in the record.  I would like some help with them.

I think I see the Godfather as Joao Garcia _________ (not sure of the third name)

And I believe it is Maria Christianna, the godmother.

Can someone help me confirm the names of the God parents?

PART 2.

I may have stumbled onto the identity of the person in a picture I have.  There are two files attached.  One is the picture and the other is the back of the picture.  It looks to me, based on my limited ability to translate what is on the back of the picture, that the woman in the picture may be Arthur's godmther, Maria Christianna.

Or, it might just be wishful thinking on my part....

Can someone help me with what is written on the back of the picture?  Unfortunately there is some staining, but for the most part it is readable.

Thank you very much!!

Evee
