I thought it looked Hebrew.
That might explain why I haven't ever seen it, because we are not looking at anything but Catholic records.
But not all of your examples seem Jewish. I suppose it could be a given name by anyone, since anyone can pick any name they fancy.

Apparently found on Faial. I've seen it in Madeira and  Brazilian records, Australian shiplists from Portugal and Spain, and in California.  It is a form of Abraham. It is seen as a given name in some Portuguese and Jewish families. Most search engines confuse it with Abreu.

I thought of that, as my wife's Abreu family has numerous spellings on records, but the Ancestry trees I found confirmed the Abrao spelling. The trees are fairly extensive but poorly cited.
