The records for Furnas prior to the date you mention are kept in Maia. You will see the many references to Furnas, and sometimes it is noted right in the margin of a record. If you can't find a record, check also Lomba da Maia (had its own church circa 1812 or so) and the three churches linked to Ribeira Grande. You will also see many references to Fenais da Ajuda and Ponta Garca.
