Does anyone know at which time of year the information for city directories (1880s to 1920s) was most likely to have been taken? Before the year started--so *by* January, 1900 for a 1900 city directory, for example. Or by the end of the year? Or does it just depend? I have found one ancestor "Removed from city..." and want to know the timing.
