Hi Shirl,
All the information came from Horta, Faial Island... nothing from Terceira! The name Seriqui gives nothing back. Entering BENARÚS name I got entries of: - Samuel Benarús, death registration from Registo Civil of Horta, Faial. The death entry is number 259 in between 3 January 1920 to 23 December 1920. - José Benarús, he was a teacher in between 20 February 1946 and 1989. There is a file of him. - Moisés Benarús. He made a translation of a newspaper article: "The Portuguese Element in New England". The article was written by Henry Roseman Lang and published in The Journal of American Folk-Lore. The translation was published in Atlântico, numbers 154, 155, 156 of July-1892? This must be a newspaper from Horta, Faial... (not sure though). The article is about immigration. - Adolfo Benarús is referenced as a painter and English teacher. In Ponta Delgada, S. Miguel, we have the so called "English Cemetery". The non catholic people (mainly English were buried there. Also we have the Jewish cemetery... I think there would be another one in Terceira... Hope it helps!
