I don't see the discrepancy. Pedro Joao Gonsalves could also use Faria alternately with Gonsalves, or the name may have come from his wife, Maria Pereira. Note that the godparent, Joao Pereira da Costa may be related to Maria Pereira. If there are no other possible matches, this is likely the person you want. Better still, make your search easy and look for the marriage of the parents of Pedro Joao and Maria Pereira.and Manuel de Andrade Miranda and Maria Roiz. It could save you a lot of work and reveal which family uses the Faria name.
