I looked at the record and it says the groom is a widower.

Yes, it only says he's from Santa Maria, but if you find his first marriage, it might get more specific and list his parents, of course.

Also, find where he was born there by finding the baptisms of all his kids.

This couple is my first endeavor from Sao Miguel to Santa Maria in my ancestral search. Their daughter’s marriage record only says “Santa Maria Island” as far as I can tell.  I am hoping there is an experienced Santa Maria researcher who can steer me in the right direction.

 

Their daughter’s marriage record is on the left side, bottom entry
