Hi David, I research the extended PACHECO / MOURA family of Cambridge, MA. They came over from Sao Miguel, but found out last year the MOURA's originated in another island. The mother arriving was born Philomena ROSE / ROSA, probably 1870's. Researchers just found out for me last year that, when she came over to MA, she came over to stay with her ROSE / ROSA brother in Cambridge. This was ~1910. It's 5 am here, and I'm not remembering details; I'll look them up in a little while. ... But, I just checked at www.familysearch.org and see this record:
Name: Manuel Rose Titles and Terms: Event Type: Birth Event Date: 22 Dec 1906 Event Place: Taunton, Massachusetts Gender: Race: Registration Date: Registration Place: Christening Date: Christening Place: Christening Age: Death Date: Death Age: Father's Name: Louis F. Travis<https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FXN5-LCG?cc=1536925> Mother's Titles and Terms: Mother's Birthplace: .. It seems there were several men with that name in MA in the 1900-1910 timeframe, including one born in the same year. I just noticed another record which shows a ROSE family in Fairhaven in 1920, that of Joseph ROSE. The names of the sons were Manuel and Antone, 15, and that reminded me that the names of Philomena's older brothers were Antone and Manuel ROSE. I have not had any luck finding additional information on them. Have you already checked at that web site? There are many records to consider. And, it looks like there were many men with the name in MA. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) On Friday, May 16, 2014 8:53:54 PM UTC-4, David Perry wrote: > > Many, many thanks to all.
