Eric-- In the book, Portuguese Bermudians, An Early History & Reference Guide 1849--1949 by Patricia M. Mudd, there is a family of Soffrino. The first reference is, " 1890 the Board of Immigration held six meetings at which time they approved applications for 10 workers from the Azores...Within the year of 1891, the requests for Portuguese "workers tripled to 31 person.
"Several new Portuguese names appeared in the Paget Parish Vestry Minutes of January, 1892. Alterations and transfers were made in the Assessment of Real & Personal property belonging to Antonio Cabral, Manuel Cabral, Manuel Barrios, Manuel Cordeiro, John De Silva, Manuel Iima and MANUEL SOFFRINA." Page 213 of Beremuda Registry of B,M,D- a Female Sofrino born to Manuel De Mello Sofrino & Leotina Jesus Medunda. Page 215 Christina De Mello Soffrino to Manuel De Mello Sofrino & Leotina Jesus (St. Paul's Church), Page 217 Male Sofrino toManuel De Mello Sofrino & Leotina Jesus Madunda (Bermuda Registry of B,M,D. This could possibly be the family you are tracing or maybe relatives.
