Hi All,

This is hopefully close enough to on-topic and of interest to folks on this
list. As a composer and musician, part of my Azorean research interest is
musical as well as genealogical, and in fact I was recently in the islands
for three weeks working on a musical project (blog here
<http://spmrhouse.blogspot.com/>). A friend just pointed me to this very
interesting blog post <http://excavatedshellac.com/category/azores/> about
78 RPM recordings of Azorean folk music made in Oakland, CA in the 1940s by
an Anthony Sears/Antonio Soares. I'm posting it here partly because it's
interesting to see how music researchers work much the same way as
genealogy researchers, but also because there is a chance that someone on
this list will be related to this Antonio Soares and might have more info
about his recording business. At the end of the article there's a link for
A Chamarrita Nova, that leads to an MP3 recording you can play and/or
download. Worth a listen!
