Thank you, Cheri, for the easy to understand explanation. I will have him do the Y-DNA 37 to start and take it from there if he wants to do Family Finder later or upgrade the Y-DNA to 67 at a later date.
Not Portuguese - My husband did the Y-DNA 37 (Sharp) a couple of years ago and he has had very few matches - one close but we have not been able to connect the dots thus far. His cousin did the Y-DNA 37 (McNeal) and he has had many matches and one 0 steps, one 1 step and one 2 step (all related) and interestingly, the 2 step is the one that we believe is the exact line but both tester's are from different generations. Only explanation I can come up with - is that they were from different generations.
