Personally, I wouldn't test with Ancestry. One of the biggest is that after you mail your DNA off to them, it's no longer your DNA. They own it to do with what they please. Also, they ship only within the U.S. which really limits people like us, who are doing Azorean research. The Azores DNA project is with Family Tree DNA. They are the first DNA company devoted to genealogists. They only do DNA. They have a really large database. They ship internationally. They store your DNA for at least 25 years. If for any reason, someone no longer wishes to participate, they can let FTDNA know and FTDNA will pull the results and destroy all samples.
