Carolyn, I'm sorry I did not answer you sooner, but I was traveling in Brazil.
I see you are looking for the ship manifests from Portugal to Brazil, and I can tell you that those ship manifests are in the National Archives of Brazil. Ship manifests usually stay at the country of arrival. The National Archives, in Rio de Janeiro, has a huge database and most of it is online on this subject. You may find the interface a little complicated to open the ship manifest, but with patience you will get there. The manifests are in a pdf format, so it's good you have the year to start with.
