I'm curious as to what the titles are of the two books written about the
Portuguese settlers in the Sacramento area, as my Pico grandfather, Antonio da
Rosa Marcial, settled in Rackerby (Yuba County).

Thank you Pam. I actually have the 2 books that were written about the
Portuguese settlers in the area. Both sides of my family are in them. The
information is good as far as it goes. I am trying to get more information on
my grandfather's first wife in order to find when he actually came to the
Sacramento area. He died when my mother and aunt were very little so they only
had hearsay about his arrival. Also, my father's side of the family was in the
Clarkburg area and I have pieced together quite a bit about the family but the
church records would help pull things together.

Is there anyone in contact with a man who years ago was given permission
by the priest to completely extract the vital records of baptism, marriage and
death from this church in Clarksburg? I was told that he would one day publish
it, though he may have hit a snag with that idea.

There were so many from Pico in those early years and many Sacramento
area families could learn where their ancestors came from if they had access to
these records. The most recent priest has not been letting anyone see the
records. Even though he has retired, it would certainly be easier if the
records have been extracted than to go to the church

I believe that my grandparents may have been married there.
