I have used their on line data base to find information and then sent off for a copy of the actual record. They usual take a couple of week to get and I have been satisfied with their response. Use this link to access their data base on line http://www.sec.state.ma.us/arc/arcsrch/SearchWelcome.html . Note their records only go to 1910. I believe any earlier records you have to go to the city or town which is problematic as some of them will not do a search for you.
