That's a good clue, the Silva surname is very common in Galicia, many of our ancestors that settled in the Azores were from the North West of Portugal we were essentially Southern Galicia until Porugal split from Galicia. I have read due power shifting from Braga to Santiago de Compostela because it become such an important pilgrimage site and was bringing in money. Anyway the Nobility in Portugal became unsatisfied with power shifting to the Nobility of the Northern provinces and the Clergy of Braga also became unsatisfied with playing second fiddle.
