You seem to have most of it.
It is a bit of a stretch but "SOBIT" could be Sul da, with the "da" written
after he had written Americano.
The S?/a looks like it could mean that he had no declered profession, and the
lady traveling with them is Filomena da Gloria, 26 years old, single, I think
it says that she is their servant (Criada).Hermano

I found my
great-grandfather’s passport entry (above, last entry, March 17, 1881, # 470)
Antonio Ignacio de Faria, Jr, but was surprised when I saw the Naturaldade. It
looks like Sobdit. Americano, what kind of American
is that and why would it say that? For his marriage to Anna Izabel de Faria and
the birth of his son, Antonio, 10 mo. (both wife and son mentioned as traveling
with him) the records state he was a resident of Capelo, Horta, Fayal. Also,
can anyone read the name of the other
woman traveling with him? And why the S?/a in the profession column? Thanks for
any suggestions. Eleanor Faria Dwyer
