Mr. Gil -

My Grandmother, Maria Pine, of Pleasanton, CA was born Maria Pinheiro in
Praia do Almoxarife, Faial, in 1867. In reviewing my notes I'm not finding
any of my Pinheiro relatives in Cedros.

Maria had a brother, Manuel, who was a whaler in the Mass. area before
moving to Pleasanton/Hayward, CA. Others of her family arrived on the East
Coast in the early 1900's. I will send you what I have.

I will write you off line. My e-mail address is [email protected]_

My great grandfather was Joseph Pine, he was born Jose DA Rosa Pinheiro in
1893, Cedros, Faial. Worked as a servant for a family in Providence Rhode
Island as a teen. Married in 1917, had 2 sons, my grandpa for one. They
lived in South Dartmouth with gggrandpa, Joseph worked at the Gosnold textile
mill, his WWI draft reg lists a throat affliction and he died very very
early so possibly throat cancer something of the sort. That's where the story
ends though I can't find a death certificate that's it so I'm stuck.

Repost for Joe Pine, jpine1947 at _gmail.com_ (http://gmail.com/)

My name is Joe Pine and a new member of this site. I am currently living
in Gilbert,AZ. I grew up and lived until 10 years ago in Falmouth, MA. I am
beginning to research my family tree on my fathers side. My paternal
grandfather was born in Faial in 1884. I found a passenger list with his name,
Salvador Pinheiro, that showed him landing in Providence, RI on Nov/24/1912.
It also listed a Manuel Pinheiro as a contact person who was living in
Taunton. I'm not sure if Manuel was a brother or another relative. I was
wondering if the family name ( Pinheiro or Pine ) is familiar? I would
appreciate any info you might have.
