a-hah! I have a little more time this morning, and looking at the record again, I believe that the problem sections read:
"... sem se descobrir impediemnto algun, tendo satisfeito nos..." "...nesta bispado" Firmino do Rego Tavares..." If you look at "sem se" and compare the initial "s" to the one in "tendo satisfeito" you'll notice that they're similar.
