Tyler, You are not being specific enough. Their organization is not the same as the United States. Knowing born Sao Miguel and died in Terceira is not good enough. You need the specific location. Then you look at the map on the Azores GenWeb and figure out what concelho (council, county) it belongs to. Then you write to the Civil Registry of that council or county. You have a contact in the Azores. They know how it works there. They should be able to tell you this information, just as much as I can tell an American where to go to get their birth certificate. Your contact will probably know which concelho the freguesia belongs to as well and they probably don't have to look on a map either, just like I wouldn't have to look at a map to tell someone born in Nashville to write to the Tennessee Vital Records department.
