My great grandparents were Antonio and Rose Da Silva (or possibly da Silveira). My great grandmother was born in 1856. They lived in Pico Azores. According to my father They had 13 children. 7 immigrated to America including my grandmother Rosa Paulina Silveira (possibly Silva). My great grandfather had at least 2 sisters Teresa and Mary, one or both immigrated to New York. He had 1 brother who may have immigrated to Brazil. My grandmother's siblings who stayed in Pico were Evelyn (lindares), Alvera (Pimental), Alzira (Gomez), John Silva. My great aunt Hilda visited my great grandparents' home in Piedade, Pico, Azores in 1928 or 1929.
My grandmother married Joseph Alves Sr. in about 1906 in Sacramento California. Not much is known about the Alves family. My great grandparents immigrated to California. They had 3 children my father, Mary Alves (Patrick) and Teresa Alves (Roger). I have wanted to find out information about my family in the Azores. My father gave me this information before he passed away.
