Earthquakes are more common than people realize. The App 'Earthquake' shows earthquakes around the world starting at 2 on the scale. As for the Azores it is something that is part of life. There are many ruined houses abandoned after the 1998 earthquake and they did have loss of life and injured. It just comes with living here that it can happen any day. California has several every day as well they are just low on the scale so barely felt. If you are interested the app Earthquake is free. You can set it for United States or Europe Azores is included. Very helpful!
