Looking at online archives, I've just discovered that my 3rd great
grandmother has an "inventario", dated 1848. I'm planning to go see the
record at the library in Ponta Delgada, but in the meantime, can anyone
tell me anything about inventory records? I assume they were compiled when
someone died. Was that always the case, or does it imply something about
her economic class or a disputed inheritance? Thank you!
