I need some help with one word....in the 2nd record...the marriage of Joao Ignacio da Sousa...there's what appears to be a word/name/ in front of his father's name.
? Joao da Sousa Machado....any clues? Between the name changes and the marriages within families it's very difficult to know who's who! I still have no idea why Antonio Abreu/ spelled Habreu on his marriage, would take part of his wife's father's name, de Quadros. Why not his full name of de Quadros Pereira? Yikes! I've never seen a record where a man married his son-in-laws sister! Also, thank you for posting the links and the suggestion to look for Maria Bernarda's obit. This is my direct maternal line and Maria Bernarda's records are very illusive. I'd love to be able to trace her line back further.....my Mt full sequence is H3b with 5 extra mutations and within the Iberian Ashkenazi Mt DNA Project at FTDNA our H3b is flagged as "likely Sephardic"....and I have no close matches at all....only 1 and she's a genetic distance of 3....no clues there. Since Anna Bernarda's marriage does list her mother as defuncta (deceased), perhaps she died between 1794 and 1797 (possibly in Norte Grande). It also appears to me that the parents of the groom in the first marriage are the same as the parents of the bride in the second marriage.
